Fire your taste buds with Burnt Cones – A Gelato Cafe inspired by rarified flavours of Italy “It’s all about striving for the finest.” – Xavier, Owner of Burnt Cones “Never give up on your dreams.” – Miles, Owner of Burnt Cones Tisch Global is proud to support Burnt Cones in their mission to bring people together with quality gelato Burnt Cones opened in December 2020 with the mission of spreading love for incredible food made with the finest ingredients. With humble beginnings within the quaint neighbourhood of Sunset Way, the business opened doors to its second outlet at The Sail Marina Bay and third at West Coast. The gelato business is continuously inspired with ever-growing endeavours to bring people together with good food, quality ice cream and coffee. We sat with Xavier and Milies to know more. What is the atmosphere at Burnt Cones? “Our interiors has always been clean, white walls and all. We want people to come in and focus on the quality food and good company”. Upon discovering Burnt Cones along the busy streets of Singapore, the sight of eye-catching Italian gelatos will catch your eye as the unique aroma of apple wood chips smoked waffles fill the air. “Every outlet is a milestone for us, we are happy to have worked many years with our staff. We are just like a family.” The friendly setting of Burnt Cones outlets welcomes anyone who chances across or visits. Be it families who stop by for an exclusive midday brunch and dessert, or groups of friends that stay till closing. A welcoming space for anyone, anytime. “We hope that all the people in Singapore can have a chance to try our Burnt Cones.” Burnt Cone instills an eccentric environment with spacious areas for people to get cozy and indulge their senses. “The nice thing to always see is the surprise on peoples’ faces when they try our desserts.” One would be able to enjoy the wide array of gelato flavours and seasonal offerings across the different outlets. The smoked waffles are also paired with the gelato, elevating the experience of many. How did the name “Burnt Cones” come about? “The signature story of how our Burnt Cones came about was through an accidental R&D testing, we coincidentally burnt the gelato cones and it tasted really really good”. Xavier and Miles reminisced the yearly achievements of their business; through continual testing, speaking with locals and a spark of creativity, they brought life to the dessert plate with their one of a kind bitter-sweet taste combination of bitter burnt cones/smoked waffles and sweet Italian gelatos. Burnt Cones is always on the hunt for new innovative flavours and dessert combinations. Miles mentioned that him and Xavier have always been foodies at heart, and are always surprised by the crowd and their reactions upon tasting their creations. Focused on the institute’s twin engines of Technology and Built Environment, every student comes with a set of goals and leaves with success. ” About one-third of the tech and building industry has passed through our doors”. Alexander marveled the yearly achievements of the institute, helping many from non-related backgrounds get into the relevant sectors. Dive into the world of Marcy’s – A seafood bistro at heart that takes familiar ideas and presents them in new, satisfying ways. “Marcy’s is a place to be yourself.” – Tong Hann, Owner of Restaurant How did it begin? Having worked in New York, Tong Hann wanted to create an intimate neighbourhood bistro to life. Equal parts Brooklyn and West Village, the menu features Latin-inspired seafood fare in an atmospheric setting. We sat with Tong Hann to know more. What is the atmosphere at Marcy’s? “The essence of Marcy’s is that everything comes together in a very easy and effortless package”. With inventive yet hearty food, disarmingly relaxed service and an eclectic and atmospheric setting, one will feel a sense of comfort upon entering the bistro for an experience like no other. “We’ve got a great R&B, Soul and Pop music playlist too”. Rhythmic yet relaxing tunes embrace the surroundings as people indulge their senses to Latin American and Coastal Italy cultures; and relish the harmonious marriage of eccentric local and regional cuisines. An experience like no other at the Intimate Bar. “We have a great bar, the food is fantastic and the service is always meant to be very relaxed.” Marcy’s started off with Latin American inspired cocktails while remaining ever-inspired to try new infusions for the adventurous. “It is open late and you can come in for just a glass of wine or a classic nightcap and a small bite should you feel like it.” One would feel at home with a selection of craft spirits, cocktails and atypical small plates. What it is like to discover Marcy’s? Marcy’s is a restaurant set amidst the backdrop of Duxton. Seafood forms the backbone of Marcy’s cuisine as it takes familiar ideas and presents them in new, satisfying ways. The bistro brought forth its unique cultural cuisine, as food in Latin America is largely similar and well-suited to the Asian palette. He mentioned that it is always fulfilling to have people come in and wonder, “Hey, has this actually been here forever?”.
