Your questions about InvoiceNow answered
The InvoiceNow network itself is free to use.
However, you will need InvoiceNow-ready solutions such as QuickBooks Online and Xero to connect to the InvoiceNow network and send e-invoices. The cost depends on which accounting solution you choose and your business requirements.
There are no connector or integration fees for Quickbooks or Xero.
Drop us a message to find out more about government grants that can support InvoiceNow-Ready solutions such as QuickBooks Online and Xero. We can also assist with end-to-end InvoiceNow set-up, integration and implementation.
Yes. The Singapore government provides financial support to help businesses adopt InvoiceNow and comply with the GST InvoiceNow requirement.
1.Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG)
Tisch Global offers InvoiceNow-Ready Solutions like Xero and QuickBooks under the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG). The PSG grant subsidises up to 50% of the cost of Xero, QuickBooks, including the cost of implementing Xero/Quickbooks and Peppol integration.
Drop us a message and we can guide you through the process of choosing which InvoiceNow-Ready solution and then applying for the PSG grant.
2. New InvoiceNow adoption grant (up to S$1,000 for SMEs)
A new grant of up to S$1,000 will be introduced for SMEs to help defray the costs of adopting InvoiceNow. More details on the grant and how to apply will be announced by IMDA and IRAS in due course.
3. SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC)
Eligible companies with S$10,000 in SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) may be able to use these credits to further offset the remaining costs of eligible digitalisation and training initiatives, including projects supported under the Productivity Solutions Grant.
This $10K can significantly reduce the overall cost of adopting InvoiceNow-Ready solutions.
Reach out to us to check your SFEC grant eligibility.
If the amount decreased (e.g. from $100 to $80) — you’ll need to issue a credit note for the difference ($20). This cancels out part of the original invoice. Your client will then owe $80 net. This credit note will need to be transmitted to IRAS via Peppol.
If the amount increased (e.g. from $100 to $150) — you can issue a new e-invoice for the additional amount ($50). No credit note needed.
In both cases, the original $100 invoice stays on record — you don’t delete or edit it. InvoiceNow transmits these documents through the Peppol network, so corrections need to follow this process to keep both your records and your client’s in sync.
InvoiceNow is a nationwide e-invoicing network in Singapore that allows businesses to send and receive invoices digitally and automatically. Instead of emailing PDF invoices or mailing paper copies, InvoiceNow connects to your accounting software directly to your customer's accounting system.
Invoices are transmitted instantly and securely.
GST InvoiceNow Requirement is an initiative by the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) that allows businesses to send structured electronic invoices through the Peppol network.
When a GST-registered business sends an invoice through Peppol:
- The customer receives the e-invoice
- IRAS receives the invoice data automatically
This helps streamline GST reporting and reduce manual data entry.
InvoiceNow and GST InvoiceNow refer to the same network. but serve slightly different purposes.
| Feature | InvoiceNow | GST InvoiceNow |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Send e-invoices between businesses | Send invoice data to IRAS |
| Government Reporting | No | Yes |
| Network Used | Peppol | Peppol |
| Requirement | Optional | Mandatory for some new GST registrants |
In short: InvoiceNow = the network. GST InvoiceNow = the mandate for GST-registered businesses to use that network.
If you are registering for GST, IRAS will require you to have A Peppol ID and an InvoiceNow-Ready accounting solution (e.g., Xero and QuickBooks Online) before your registration is approved.
The requirement applies mainly to GST-registered businesses, starting with new GST registrants and gradually extending to all businesses. Theses key implementation dates were annouced at the beginning of March 2026:
| Implementation Date | Affected Companies |
|---|---|
| 1 November 2025 | Companies that register for GST voluntarily within 6 months of incorporation date |
| 1 April 2026 | All new voluntary GST registrants regardless of incorporation date or business structure |
| 1 April 2028 |
|
| 1 April 2029 | Existing GST-registered businesses with total annual supplies ≤S$1,000,000 |
| 1 April 2030 | Existing GST-registered businesses with total annual supplies ≤S$4,000,000 |
| 1 April 2031 | Existing GST-registered businesses with total annual supplies >S$4,000,000 |
Some businesses are exempt from the GST InvoiceNow requiremnt, including:
- Overseas entities, including overseas vendors registered under the Overseas Vendor Registration (OVR) regime
- Businesses that are required to register for GST only because of the Reverse Charge regime
These businesses do not need to transmit invoice data through InvoiceNow.
If your business is not GST-registered, you are generally not required to adopt InvoiceNow for now. You can continue issuing and sending invoices the way your business prefers.
No, GST InvoiceNow does not replace GST filing.
Businesses must still prepare and submit GST returns to IRAS becasue:
- Not all invoices go through Peppol
- Expenses may not be captured through the network
- Adjustmentts may be required (bad debts. reverse charge, sero-related supplies)
GST reconciliation is still necessary before filing GST returns.
No. Your GST InvoiceNow obligation is about submitting invoice data to IRAS. It is not about whether your customer receives the invoice electronically. Even if your customer still wants a PDF by email, you can still fulfil your IRAS submission separately via Xero or QuickBooks. Your compliance is independent of your customer’s setup.
No. Activating GST InvoiceNow will not send historical invoices to IRAS.
The requirement only applies to new invoices sent through Peppol after activation.
According to IMDA and IRAS, your invoice data remains completely private on the InvoiceNow network. Your invoice data is only accessible to you, your customer/supplier and IRAS.
According to IRAS, the invoice data transmitted to IRAS will be stored in IRAS’s system which is governed by public sector security requirements.
A PEPPOL ID (also called your InvoiceNow ID) is your unique identifier on this network, and IRAS will ask for it as part of your GST application. Without one, you will not be able to complete your GST registration.
Your PEPPOL ID is obtained by registering your business on the InvoiceNow network through an IMDA-accredited access point provider.
- The fastest way to do this is through your accounting software — either via Xero QuickBooks Online.
Once registered, your PEPPOL ID is typically in the format 0195:SGUEN[YourUEN] and is issued almost immediately after the sign up is done.
Tisch Global can guide you through this process for getting a PEPPOL ID. Drop us a message via email or Whatsapp.
Yes, we can help get you on a solution like Xero or QuickBooks quickly so that you can apply for a Peppol ID.
We understand that this Peppol ID requirement while in the middle of a GST registration/application is stressful, especially when timelines are tight.
Our team can get your business registered on the InvoiceNow network and provide you with your Peppol ID within 1 working day. Get in touch with us now.
Your Peppol ID is your unique address on the InvoiceNow network - it's how other businesses and IRAS can find and send documents to you electronically. It is tied to your UEN.
If you fall under the GST InvoiceNow requirement, you must obtain a Peppol ID before applying for GST registration.
- For Xero users, your Peppol ID is registered through Invoici (Xero's built-in access point) as part of the setup process.
- For QuickBooks, from 1 April 2026, your Peppol ID is registered through Fonoa (QuickBooks' built-in access point) as part of the setup process.
Yes, Xero can generate invoices and send e-invoices through the Peppol network once InvoiceNow is activated. Xero can also receive e-invoices.
There are 2 different scenarios depending on whether your customer is on the InvoiceNow network:
Scenario 1: Your customer has a Peppol ID
To send an e-invoice through Peppol in Xero:
- Create the invoice
- Click Approve & Send
- Enter the customer's Peppol ID
- Send the invoice
This routes the invoice through the Peppol network instead of normal email.
Xero routes it through the InvoiceNow network directly to your customer. IRAS automatically receives a copy.
Scenario 2: Your customer has no Peppol ID
Your customer is not on the InvoiceNow network. You send the invoice to IRAS@invoi.ci manually, which submits the invoice data directly to IRAS without going through Peppol.
In both cases, your IRAS submission obligation is fulfilled — the route just differs based on your customer's setup.
No, using Xero with CST InvoiceNow does not automatically send all invoices to IRAS.
IRAS only receives invoice data when:
- The invoice is sent through the Peppol network
- The customer has a Peppol ID and an invoice is sent to their Peppol ID
One possible way is to simply add IRAS@invoi.ci to every customer's contact record in Xero.
At Tisch Global, we can also assist to bulk edit and import your customers' contact record.
- If your customer has a Peppol ID, Xero routes the invoice to them via the network and IRAS gets it automatically.
- If your customer doesn't have a Peppol ID, Xero can't route it - but with IRAS@invoi.ci in their contact record, the submission still reaches IRAS automatically.
- If you add IRAS@invoi.ci to everyone, the worst case is a harmless duplicate submission to Peppol-enabled customers.
Rather than checking each customer's Peppol status every time you invoice, add IRAS@invoi.ci to every customer's contact record in Xero as a default. Your IRAS compliance is covered regardless of whether your customer is on the network or not.
These are 2 separate actions, though Xero can handle both at once.
Sending an e-invoice means your customer receives the invoice digitally via the Peppol network - this only works if they have a Peppol ID.
Submitting to IRAS means your invoice data goes to the tax authority for GST reporting - this is your compliance obligation and can be fulfilled regardless of whether your customer is on the network.
Many people wonder: Do I need to submit credit notes to IRAS as well?
Yes, credit notes that adjust the value or GST amount of a previously submitted invoice must also be transmitted to IRAS.
In Xero, the process for submitting a credit note follows that same steps as submitting an invoice or bill, depending on whether it was issued via Peppol or outside the network. Where possible, reference the original invoice number when issuing the credit note.
Yes. For purchases or expenses bills received via the Peppol network, Xero automatically submit these when you approve them. For bills received outside the network (paper or PDF), Xero extracts and submits the data when you approve them - except bills with the No Tax tax code, which Xero does not submit automatically.
To send and submit a bill:
- Create the bill in Xero
- Click Approve
Xero automatically submits the bill to IRAS.
If you've edited the bill and need to resend it:
- Log in to Invoici (Invoici website) with your Xero login details
- Select the eInovices tab
- Search for and find the bill, then click Resubmit.
Yes, these need to be submitted too, but they can be aggregated rather than submitted transaction by transaction.
For cash sales via POS or simplified tax invoices, create a cash invoice and send it to IRAS@invoi.ci.
For petty cash purchases, create a cash bill. In Xero, enter the relevant 3-diigt code in the Business Registration Number field of the contact: POS for point-of-sale cash sales, STI for simplified tax invoice sales, and PCP for petty cash purchases.
Yes. QuickBooks is InvoiceNow-ready and supports e-invoicing through the Peppol network. From April 2026, QuickBooks will offer a direct native integration with the Peppol network — no third-party setup required.
Before April 2026, QuickBooks works well with Linkfor to offer e-invoicing.
No. QuickBooks does not automatically send every invoice to IRAS.
IRAS only receives invoice data when:
- The invoice is sent through the Peppol network, or
- The invoice is submitted directly to IRAS via the designated submission route
Regular invoices sent by email or PDF via QuickBooks Online (QBO) are not automatically transmitted to IRAS.
NOTE: From April 2026, QuickBooks will offer a direct native integration with the Peppol network.

There are 2 scenarios depending on whether your customer is on the InvoiceNow network:
Scenario 1: Your customer has a Peppol ID
- Create the invoice in QuickBooks
- Enter your customer's Peppol ID
- Send the invoice
Once QuickBooks offers a direct native integration, Quickbooks will routes the invoice through the Peppol / InvoiceNow network directly to your customer. IRAS automatically receives a copy.
Scenario 2: Your customer has no Peppol ID
Your customer is not on the InvoiceNow network. You will need to submit the invoice data to IRAS separately through the designated submission route. Your IRAS submission obligation is still fulfilled — the route just differs based on your customer's setup.
If you were previously using a third-party solution to connect QuickBooks to the Peppol network, you can look forward to a simpler setup from April 2026. QuickBooks will offer a direct native integration, removing the need for separate third-party configuration. We recommend reviewing your current setup closer to the launch date. Tisch Global can assist you with the transition.
